2002 Erich Avinger is working on redefining jazz standards with his classical guitar using nylon strings as well as his hollow body guitar. His fluid playing incorporates fingerstyle picking of Michael Hedges, the harmonics of Lenny Breau and the jazz sensibility of Jim Hall and Joe Pass, while occasionally throwing in some Eastern musical influences in the middle of a solo.
